  • Awesome, friendly Biblical teaching. They have three services each in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. Great place to bring parent's in law while I attended the English service.

  • Sunday services start at 9:30 am. There are 3 different adult services to choose from (English, Mandarin, and Cantonese). Children's ministry is from toddler and up. Separate youth services for junior high and high school students, depending on the week. Sunday school at 11:15am depending on the quarter. Topics vary.

I grew up in a Christian family but have become detached from church life some years after college, hence not a regular church-goer. One of my observations I made when I did go to church regularly was that for many, going to church on Sundays was something to do, not necessarily as a way to better live life of Christian values. The incident of my dad at ECC Seattle at Redmond location seems to validate my point of view.

My father was visiting me for the summer, and insisted in going to the church on Sunday. He managed to find ECC of which has Mandarin-speaking service.

Error on our end was that I didn't look up and read the church website in detail, assumed that the service was to start at 11AM like what we're used to. So came Sunday I dropped him off at the Redmond church right before 11AM (we live in Seattle), and I left to go to my gym nearby. Obviously he got there at the tail end of the service, so he called me to come pick him up to go home. I didn't have my phone on me while at the gym, and didn't learn of what happened until close to noon, at which time saw multiple missed calls from him. I thought something had happened to him.

I drove to the church immediately and spotted him sat on a block in the vacant parking lot where it was completely full when I dropped him off, looking distressed. I was very disappointed to learn that not one person approached him to ask him if he was ok or if he needed any help. There he was, a silver-haired man in his late 70s, looking distressed, calling frantically, standing in a full parking outside of a church at the height of church-goers leaving, and not one person/Christian approached him to inquire of his well-being.

I asked him if he wants to come back next week, he said, "we'll see".

  • Nice, friendly, a true Christian church with Mandarin, Cantonese, and English services.

  • I can't speak to what goes on at the Mandarin or Cantonese services, but the English service includes a good mix of worship songs ranging from contemporary to some hymns. The sermons are always insightful, and the people are cheerful. Service starts promptly at 9:30am, generally with an upbeat worship song.
